Bed and Breakfast. A Georgian town house conveniently located between Main Street and the railway station, Ivyleigh House in Portlaoise offers elegant bed and breakfast accommodation. There is free parking and Wi-Fi and a full Irish breakfast is served. Each guest room has a TV, alarm clock and tea and coffee facilities. All have an en suite shower with complimentary toiletries provided. A range of cooked dishes feature on the breakfast menu, including Cashel Blue cheese cakes with mushrooms and tomatoes, and baked eggs with cream and cheese. You can also enjoy porridge with cream, muesli and granola, as well as homemade bread and fruit compote. Portlaoise is around 15 minutes’ drive from the Slieve Bloom Mountains, and around 50km north of Kilkenny. The Irish National Stud and Japanese Garden in Kildare are less than 30 minutes from the town, and Dublin city centre and airport are just over 1 hour away.
